Stats: Bhajji is second Indian after Kumble to take 250 wickets in India

Statistical highlights from the second day's play of the second Test between India [ Images ] and New Zealand [Images ] in Hyderabad on Saturday.

# Gautam Gambhir [ Images ] has posted his highest score in 11 innings.
# Gambhir, during his 96, has completed his 500 runs against New Zealand, aggregating 520 at an average of 65.00 in five Tests, including two hundreds and two fifties.
# Gambhir has posted his 12th fifty in Tests.
# Harbhajan Singh [ Images ], with Daniel Vettori's [ Images ] wicket, became the second Indian bowler after Anil Kumble [ Images ] (350 at an average of 24.88 in 63 Tests) to complete 250 wickets in India – 253 at an average of 28.07 in 51 Tests.
# Harbhajan is the second most successful bowler for India this year with 30 wickets at an average of 42.30 in 9 Tests -- a tally bettered only by Zaheer Khan [ Images ] (41 at 22.41 in eight Tests) for India in 2010.
# Virender Sehwag [ Images ] is the top run-scorer in the current rubber, aggregating 270 at an average of 90.00 in three innings, including a hundred and a ninety.
# Sehwag's previous best performance in a series against New Zealand was the 2003-04 in India -- 177 in four innings (two Tests), including one hundred.
# Sehwag's runs' tally this year is quite impressive -- 1174 at an average of 65.22, including five hundreds and five fifties, in eleven Tests -- his second best in terms of run-aggregate in a calendar year -- 1462 (ave. 56.23) in 14 Tests in 2008.
# Sehwag is the second Indian opener to complete 7000 runs in Tests. Sunil Gavaskar [ Images ] was the first to achieve the distinction, aggregating 9607 at an average of 50.29 in 203 innings.
# Sehwag's 96 is his fifth innings in the nineties.
# The 160-run opening stand is the first by Sehwag-Gambhir pair against New Zealand, eclipsing the 73 at Wellington in April 2009.
# The aforesaid stand is the eighth for Gambhir-Sehwag pair.
# Gambhir-Sehwag's average of 57.92 is the third highest by an opening pair amongst the pairs with 3000 runs or more in Tests -- the top two being the 87.81 by Jack Hobbs and Herbert Sutcliffe for England [ Images ] and 60.94 by Bill Lawry and Bobby Simpson for Australia [ Images ].
# The Indian playing eleven in the present Test, became the first team to amass 50,000 Test runs.
# Jesse Ryder's [ Images ] performance against India is excellent, aggregating 500 at an average of 71.42 in five Tests, including three hundreds and one fifty.
# Ryder has recorded two 50-plus innings in succession against India for the first time --103 at Ahmedabad [ Images] followed by 70 at Hyderabad.
# Ryder is the leading scorer for New Zealand in the current series, with 173 runs at an average of 86.50.
